2026 Cruise In Week
Hello friends and followers of S/V Sonrisa!
We are thrilled to announce Sonrisa’s return for the 2026 Cruise-In Week fundraiser for the schools in the Barra de Navidad area. After a brief hiatus last year, this marks our fifth race to raise funds for the children in this wonderful community that warmly welcomes us each year. We are diligently preparing Sonrisa, scrubbing the bottom clean, pulling out the large sails, and stowing the live-aboard extras to ensure we can compete with the fleet. While we may not be the favorites for the around-the-marks portion of the race, thanks to your unwavering support, we are highly competitive in the crucial fundraising race. This is your chance to join Sonrisa’s crew and help us cross the finish line by making a donation designated from Team Sonrisa!
What’s more, this year, we’re matching the first $1000 in donations we receive for Team Sonrisa! You can now donate online anonymously or share your name, and we’ll proudly acknowledge your contribution and express our deepest gratitude. Since this is an all-volunteer effort, all the funds raised after expenses are directly allocated to local schools, making a substantial impact on the community. For more information about the fundraising event and the positive impact of past fundraisers, please visit https://www.cruiseinweek.net.
And most importantly, you can become a part of Team Sonrisa for fundraising!
Cruise-in week activities starts February 6 and the race is February 13, so be sure to get your donations in by Thursday, February 12 by visiting our donation page and clicking the “Donate/Ticket Reservation” button at https://givebutter.com/iNWs9Y/sonrisa1.
Donations are collected using an external site that adds an administration fee to your donation. To avoid this fee, you may also donate contact us for directions on how to transfer funds via Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay or PayPal and we can forward the donation for you.
Cruise-in Week is a grassroots fundraising effort conducted entirely by volunteers to raise money to distribute to the local schools in the Barra de Navidad area. This money is well used as the government funding only covers a portion of the schools needs and smaller communities rely on local funding for basics such as building maintenance, athletic equipment, and classroom equipment and supplies. There is a very transparent accounting of how funds are used on the Cruise-In Week Past Fundraisers page.
Join us in helping the kids in this wonderful community thrive!
